Job Purpose

  • Developing accurate, efficient data transformations that meet customer needs within agreed deadlines
  • Ensuring the reliability, robustness, and resilience of the projects you design and build, while working independently within agreed standards
  • Creating and maintaining data pipelines, data storage solutions, data processing, and data integration. Troubleshooting issues and implementing necessary fixes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and building reliable, robust, and accurate data pipelines based on agreed best practices
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of sources using SQL and other technologies
  • Design ETL processes, develop integration workflows, and manage data load processes to support both regular and ad-hoc activities
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture, which might include integrating with Dataverse via cloud flows or external data sources
  • Design, develop, and maintain data warehouse environments
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.

Technical Skills

  • 3-5 years' established experience as a Data Engineer
  • Data management and warehousing
  • ETL and ELT
  • Data architecture and experience building complex database systems for businesses
  • SQL Server including query optimisation
  • Experience with programming languages and tools C#, Python, Visual Studio Code and JSON
  • 2+ years' Dynamics 365 CRM experience
  • Power Platform: Power Automate, Dataverse
  • Data management and warehousing
  • ETL and ELT
  • Data architecture and experience building complex database systems for businesses
  • SQL Server including query optimisation
  • Coding experience to include low code/no-code solutions
  • Comfortable working with a range of data sources and formats e.g. JSON, XML, Flat files, API Integration
  • Machine Learning and AI
  • Normalisation and de-normalisation
  • Understanding of Snowflake architecture, data modelling, and administration.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a numerate, business or computing subject, or an equivalent qualification
  • Microsoft Certified Professional or able to gain MCP qualifications through self-study
  • A level qualification or equivalent.

This role is UK-based and will require visits to customer sites in the UK and Ashton Court's HQ in Northampton. The position involves flexible working, with the opportunity to work from home. Although the majority of our staff work from or within a reasonable commute to our offices, we also have staff working remotely from wider locations.  We welcome applications from candidates located throughout the UK, particularly based around the Midlands.  However, ability and attitude are more important than location.
