Talent Match Receives European Praise

The Wise Group is a leading social enterprise, supporting people to gain skills and get back to work. Its Talent Match North East programme is one of 24 ‘promising practices’ from across Europe singled out by the European Commission for the support given to young people as they transition from school to work – the only one in the UK to receive the praise.

Talent Match takes place in 21 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) areas across England that experience high levels of youth unemployment. The Big Lottery Fund manages the initiative and distributes matched funding. Talent Match North East is the top performing partnership in terms of actual job starts, with over 2,500 young people benefitting from its support and over 1,000 of these gaining employment. Research shows that it is the relationship between youth coach and young person that is key to the programme’s success.
